Joshua Rothkopf
Joshua Rothkopf is film editor at the Los Angeles Times. He served as senior movies editor at Entertainment Weekly, and is also the former film editor and critic of Time Out New York, where he reviewed movies weekly from 2004 to 2020. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Observer (UK), Sight & Sound, Empire, Rolling Stone and In These Times, where he was chief film critic from 1999 to 2003. Rothkopf is a member of the National Society of Film Critics, and, before his move to Los Angeles, was a member of the New York Film Critics Circle, which he chaired from 2012 to 2014. He has served on juries at the Tribeca Film Festival, Venice Film Festival (FIPRESCI), Sarasota Film Festival, Hamptons International Film Festival and others. Rothkopf has taught film criticism at NYU’s School of Professional Studies, and has been a guest on numerous podcasts and media outlets. He is a graduate of Oberlin College and holds an MFA in Film and Video from Columbia College Chicago.
