The Los Angeles Film Critics Association is excited to announce that we are augmenting our scholarship for aspiring film critics with the generous support of Rotten Tomatoes.
This year we will award two $3,000 scholarships to students enrolled at Los Angeles-area community colleges: one to a woman and another to a person from an underrepresented group or groups.
Applicants should email the following materials to LAFCAscholarship@gmail.com by Sunday, Dec. 8 2019:
a cover letter including
a description of their experience and/or aspirations in film criticism as a woman or person from an underrepresented group
their school, year, and area of study
three writing samples such as a movie review written for the school paper, a paper for a film studies class, a personal blog post, etc.
Each recipient will receive a $3,000 award, $100 in Fandango and FandangoNOW gift cards, and an invitation for them and a guest to attend LAFCA’s annual awards dinner held at the InterContinental hotel in Century City, California, on January 11, 2020.
